STATE PROPERTY TAX REFUND PROGRAM - OPENS APRIL1st, 2025

Qualifying taxpayers may receive a refund from the Wyoming Department of Revenue of property taxes for the preceding calendar year. The refund shall not exceed 75% of the applicant's prior year's property tax but in no instance shall the amount of refund exceed one-half (1/2) of the median residential property tax for the county ($588.68 for 2024). Refunds will be adjusted based on income as it compares to 125% to 145% of the median income for your county or state, whichever is greater. 145% of the median Household income for Carbon County for 2024 is $109,881. Amounts may also be adjusted according to fund availability.

Eligibility requirements are as follows; paid tax by due date; resident of this state for not less than five (5) years; occupied the residence for not less than 9 months of the tax year, household income 145% or less of the median county household income ($109,881 for 2024); personal assets not exceed $163,019 for each adult household member (Applicants may exclude the value of their home, one car for each adult household member, IRA's, 401K plans, cash value of life insurance policies, and medical savings.) This asset limit does not apply to those whose tax bill exceeds 10% of your total reported income.

VETERAN EXEMPTION PROGRAM -


Qualifying Veterans may reduce their property tax liability and/or the County portion of motor vehicle registration fees. Exemption amount increased to $6,000 from $3,000 assessed value for tax years 2025 and after (SF0089). The County Assessor administers this program.
